Old
Delhi Food Festival launched at Chor Bizarre
- 6th June 2005
Chor
Bizarre, the highly acclaimed Indian restaurant set
in the heart of Mayfair is set to launch an exciting
and mouth-watering new food festival to tantalise the
taste buds of Londons diners

The festival celebrates
the authentic taste of Old Delhi Cuisine and will feature
a range of delicacies specially created by head chef
Deepinder Singh Sondhi who grew up in Delhi. He was
sent back home recently to prepare for this festival
and has come back many kilos heavier after sampling
various dishes and developing his recipes for authentic
Old Delhi cuisine.
It runs from June
10th to June 19th and will showcase exciting dishes
ranging from street fare to original Old Delhi delicacies.
Some of the items to be presented include a range of
Chaats, Ajwaini Surmai, Rara Meat, Chhole Kulche, Dal
Maa Rajma, Malai Wali Lassi, Gajar ka Halwa, Matke Wali
Kulfi and many more dishes that would delight any Dilliwallah.
So, to launch
it we have a quintessential Dilliwallah,
actor Kabir Bedi who grew up in Delhi eating this fare.
Kabir Bedi is one of Indias most famous international
actors. Kabir is now starring in the West End musical
adaptation of M.M. Kayes THE FAR PAVILIONS,
directed by Gale Edwards, at the Shaftesbury Theatre
in London. Kabir stars in this summers epic Bollywood
film, Akbar Khans THE TAJ MAHAL, as
the embattled Emperor Shah Jehan, builder of the worlds
greatest monument to love.
Ironically, Old
Delhi was known as Shahjehanabad since Emporer Shahjehan
built it

Chor Bizarre -
Indias Restaurant, captures the spirit of the
Chor bazaar or thieves market
within its kaleidoscopic interiors and serves authentic
Indian cuisine in a unique atmosphere. A veritable Aladdins
cave of curious bric-a-brac and fascinating antiques,
Chor Bizarre has collected the best-known dishes from
different corners of the country, to make your gastronomic
journey complete.
The food savoured
by the Asian Community team was certainly authentic,
as clearly was the effort put into creating a the Delhi
ambience for the UK platter. Food was authentic, but
delicate enough to palette, even for lunch!
