British Bengalis launch "BritBangla"

BritBangla, a new group created by a team of dynamic young Bengali professionals, held their inaugural Dinner and Dance Launch party at Alexandra Palace, London UK on Saturday 12th April.

The evening began with a vibrant multitude of dances, from folk to modern Bollywood, followed by a variety of singers, a Bangladeshi comedy sketch & a fashion show by Pasha Razzo, with the evening ending with the guests dancing the night away....

Shirin Hussain, Rumya Nasrin (pink), Shahin Badar and Taryn Khanum (black)
Shahin Badar, who gave an impromptu rendition of a couple of her hits, said she was proud of her Bengali heritage from her father's side, but, "it is time we took control of our destiny and moved it forward to a new century."
The evening showcased the talents of young British Bengalis in the drama, dance, singing areas and the performers were, Samina Hussain, Ema Choudhury, Desh Cultural Group, and Urmi and Ziaur.

The event, was attended by many distinguished guests including the Labour peer, Baroness Pola Manzila Uddin.
