Before you bury your costly but fading beauty products in a drawer or toss them in the trash, you may want to prolong their life with a few last-ditch efforts to bring your supplies back from the dead:

1. Add water to your "empty" bottles of shampoo or conditioner to get several more uses from each.
2. Add a drop of water to a water-soluble mascara when it gets dry. The water will loosen up and refresh enough mascara for a few more applications.
3. Add polish thinner to old nail polish. Polish tends to gather and thicken in the bottom of the bottle.
4. Mix foundation with a little moisturizer for a natural, dewy look.
5. If you've dropped your pressed powder compact and the powder disk has fallen apart, just break up the remaining chunks and add a small amount of rubbing alcohol. Mix until it forms a paste. Press it back into the compact. In just a couple of hours the alcohol will evaporate, leaving the cake solid again.
